World of Warcraft no 3d graphics
World of Warcraft no 3d graphics
Hi I have an ATI 3xxx card w/ the new 8.12 drivers. I have the newest wine and can run the game. All windows and buttons load, signing in is fine. But the animated dragon in the begining is not seen. my character in the character selection screen is not there. and finally when I log in all buttons and map window and bag windows are available but no world its just white. Oh and by the way the game is set to low on graphics. Thanks I am a noob.
P.s. I am runing this on intrepid ibex

Hi there,
I would recommend you to read my previous reply in another topic, that should help i think if both of you have ati cards.

Btw switching to OpenGL will be probably enough. Paste this code in your Config.WTF:

Middreks,
I'm also seeing these issues and using a ATI video card. However I am infact using opengl. I have the latest drivers from ATIs site and I have the most current version of wine. I'm also using OpenSuse 10.2
I have some screenshots but I dont see how I could post them here... no option for attachments..

That's pretty weird...
The first linux distro i tried was opensuse 10 but i couldn't make it work with my ati card, so i tried ubuntu and that worked for me. Unfortunately i'm not that geek and experienced to help you out further. The latest driver/wine/distro updates are all that i can suggest atm.
Maybe you should post your problem with terminal output, with perhaps winedebug or any log file that can help developers.
I wish i had money to buy a mobile nvidia card in my notebook, ati support sucks for linux nowadays...
So the only issue i can suggest is that you should try it on other distros than opensuse. I don't want to say it's the worst, but maybe something works better on other linuxes.
Good luck with your issue btw

Good to hear that you'll have a try with Ubuntu.
Latest stable is 8.10 or 8.04.2 LTS your choice.
But first of all you should do a Google with your sound card/exact VGA/wired and/or wireless cards if there are problems with them. Join your country's ubuntu community (mine is www.ubuntu.hu) and you can save time by starting the search there and reading the distro documents, big help for a new user.
