online tv for mac os x

will wine deliver the many and varied satellite streamed tv shows that are common for pc (turn your pc into a satellite ect) but don't seam to be available for mac? if so could someone point me in the correct direction. cant afford sky at the moment just been made redundant.

I don't think these work on Linux either.

The question you should be posing back to the producers is if they plan on producing a Wine compatible version or a Mac specific version.

Also, some of these programs install unfavorable software (aka spy-ware).

If those use DRM none of it will work on Wine or Mac. If they don't use DRM, then why do you need Wine? Use mplayer.

can i view live streams from the internet too with the mplayer or would i need other software?

Mplayer is just one many many media players. It just natively supports most win32 codecs.
