I play a game called shaiya, I have been able to get it running on my ubuntu partition by looking at the various tutorials in the WineAppDB.
I was just curious if someone could help me get this running, if it is possible yet that is, on Mac OSX. I got the download thing to pop up but eventually ran into an error and could not run the game...
I am running a macbook pro 2.6 GHZ dual core...10.5.6.

Its an error with the game after its done patching...something on the lines of: The version does not match, please install new client from homepage.c20
Now I know the solution seems pretty straight-forward...but I have redownloaded multiple times and even gone so far to copy over the wine folder from the linux partition.
It works just fine under linux, but as soon as i run it under mac OSX i get this error...

Pretty hard to help without this information.

What is the error and how does it appear? Are you attempting to run the program from the terminal or through the disk?Sent: Jan 20, 2009 8:58 PM

I know this is a stupid question, but is this game free or have a demo so that I can attempt to repeat what you are doing at a later time today?
Also, which Wine version are you using and where did you get it from?
Thank you.

This looks like a popup from the program, is this correct?Sent: Jan 21, 2009 7:24 AM

Please do NOT copy the wine folder from a Linux parition. Please create a new one on your Mac.Now I know the solution seems pretty straight-forward...but I have redownloaded multiple times and even gone so far to copy over the wine folder from the linux partition.
This may be a Mac specific error and I would like to confirm this.It works just fine under linux, but as soon as i run it under mac OSX i get this error...

Actually it is not a pop-up, its directly on the updater on the bottom of it where it would usually say like "download complete" and whatever else.
This is a free game, just download the client at http://shaiya.aeriagames.com/download
And about the linux thing, I have gotten other games to work by copying stuff over to mac so what is so bad about doing that?
And finally I got wine here: http://www.kronenberg.org/darwine/ I got the stable 1.0.1 version because I assumed that it corresponded with the stable 1.0.1 on linux which I have been successfully able to run shaiya with on linux
