Are windows application updates available?

Post by kkruecke »

I have install Ubuntu recently and Wine. Once I install a Windows application, like Outlook 2003 or Word 2007, on Ubuntu using Wine, will Windows updates for these applications be available?

That is, on Windows, periodically updates (security and otherwise) are released to fix bugs in applications, like Outlook and Word (and not just the Windows OS). Is there anyway, on Ubuntu, to get these updates, or do I have to live with the CD version that I installed?

Thanks much.

No. It depends on too many internal windows things that are not implemented in Wine.

You might be able to install the updates manually though (If they do
not contain WGA checks) after downloading them (usually from the
knowledge base articles or the MS download centre).

Thanks for the reply. But, while Outlook 2003 does install under Wine, it does not run.
