MS Visio 2003 - Wine 1.1.10 - Ubuntu 8.04

I would like to install (and work) with Visio 2003 using Ubuntu 8.04 and Wine 1.1.10.

I have tried to install using setup.exe and the setup app started all looked ok then right at the end of the install it crashed with a "cannot find the wscript.exe" I tried to start Visio and as if i couldn't work this out Visio didn't start.

I started to look at the forums to see if someone has had the same issues and found loads for Office 2003 but not much for Visio. I found the command line for getting an output from Wine.

Then i did a repair for Visio 2003 and got a output ...... see below.

I then get a splash screen of Visio and then it freezes, I then have to close. Could some one help me with this. I would also need to get MS Project and Front Page but thats another post. [/b]

I have removed Visio and reinstalled it and now i'm getting

IOPL not enabled

Do you need to console output?

Hi I solved this problem with Wine and MS Visio2003,
setting GDIPLUS library as NATIVE(WINDOWS), inside Wine Library configuration,
and thats make Visio Works correctly.

Could you file a bug for this please? Be sure to mention that native
gdiplus fixes it, and attach a +gdiplus log (with builtin gdiplus).

i have been looking at the test data and found that many people are having the same problems as me. One person said....

Installation works all the way.

Visio.exe works fine, after setting gdiplus.dll library to 'native'.

So i opened Winecfg and changed gdiplus.dll to windows native, and then tried to start Visio....

ITS WORKING.... well its started and i was able to start a floor plan. i will just have to see if this still works or if it becomes unusable.

Im sorry i have just read the 2 posts before my last. It must of been the where i found but the same information. So yes it dose work.
