Winetricks / DX9

Post by Noyclah »

Hi

I'm not sure if this is the right forum to ask a question about Winetricks, but I'm going to try anyway since I just can't seem to find a place dedicated to it.

./winetricks directx9 finishes, but gives a lot of strange feedback which I think isn't supposed to be there. I don't have any games around right now, so I can't see if the thing is working.

Code: Select all

Through Google I found out how this is what you might see if you manually install DirectX (without the help of Winetricks) and forget to change WINE's compatibility mode to Windows 2000. That ain't it. II checked every compatibility mode with more or less the same result, a long list of "err:setupapi:do_file_copyW Unsupported style(s) 0x144".

Is this going to be a problem?

Oh, I forgot. Ubuntu 8.10 (though I run Wine without the Window Manager), Wine 1.1.9.

Why are you installing directx9 if you don't need it?

I don't remember saying anything about not needing it. Please correct me if I did. ;)

Okay, if you have to know..

I'm getting Fallout 3 in a week or so. Maybe later, depends on the job and how much computer time the kids are going to claim. Today though I'm off and all daily chores are finished, so I thought I'd prepare Wine in advance. I'd rather not have to worry about this in a week or two, when I have far less time on my hands.

You can (usually) safely ignore terminal output, unless you have a
problem with the app. I.e., crashes/hangs/incorrect behavior, etc. So
wait until you try Fallout and see :-).

That's good to know, thank you. I liked this moment of sharing, we should do it again sometime. ;)
