Problem getting rid of app in wine installer software list

Post by Chrono Reaper »

Chrono here, first I like to say I like your Software and I will do anything to help out on reporting bugs with extreme prejudice, now on with my first bug issue:

Computer: Dell XPS M1730
RAM: 4GB
Video: Nividia 8700 SLI
CPU: Hitachi 32 bit
OS: Dual Boot - Ubuntu 8.10 / Windows Vista Ultimate

I was trying Skype 3.8 on ubuntu 8.10 and the install was garbage...doesn't even work and I am attempting to flush the entire skype program off the OS...however whenever I click on the Add/Remove button while its selected it doesn't go away. I removed the skype files manually from the windows and program files folder and clcik on the add and remove button again and it just generates the program again. It seems the Skype 3.8 wasn't installed fully since it didn't take that long installing it which meant a problem, and now its stuck in limbo as a broken program that stays on the directory of my wine installer.

Here is a screen shot of my problem: http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp27 ... enshot.png

As you see whenever I click on the skype app on the list labeled as an "X" meaning the option gives me to uninstall it, it just reverts back to the skype logo and creates a new desktop shortcut. and the files still remain. Is there any way to get rid of this problem permanently?

[EDIT]

It seems to do it to every windows program i uninstall too... I was uninstalling project 64 on Ubuntu and the name of the program still remains in the list

EDIT:

I found the salution...sorry about this....I found all I had to do was uninstall wine installer, delete the Wine file and then reinstall the wine program after deleting the old file

Just a note: Skype is available natively for Linux. For Ubuntu, see Medibuntu.
