Only OSS in sound tab :( why?

Hi! I have small problem. On my sound tab i have only OSS and i didn't have sound in "steam" games. Emulation not work(OSS too). Somebody now why? :) Ubuntu 8.04.

Have you disabled/killed/removed pulseaudio? (see sticky post)
If your system is 64-bit have you install 32-bit alsa libraries?

Pulseaudio of course removed. I have 32-bit system. I installed everything about alsa from SYNAPTIC and stiil didn't have sound. :/

Check for any other running sound servers, like esd, arts, jack. And kill them if they are there.

Try in console:

ps ax

and look for something named esd, jack or arts if you find any kill them
with kill -9 PIN

I didn't founded something named esd, jack or arts... I turn off everything what i don't need and nothing. Maybe somebody will found something... Here's list after ps ax command:

This is a bit of a workaround in the meantime... Run your Wine apps through aoss, which translates all OSS instructions to ALSA:

aoss wine appname.exe

I try it and nothing :(. I don't have idea...
Mayby "Steam" start and sound drive is busy, so when later start cs i didn't have sound?

Maybe try compiling wine yourself...?
