Force resolution in virtual desktop

Post by Das Letzte Einhorn »

Is it possible to stretch a low resolution game in a virtual desktop? Eg. Command & Conquer gold, a 640*480 game, and stretch it across a 1440*900 virtual desktop? If yes, where can I adjust these settings?

Thanks!

No, Wine can't do this. And there are no plans to implement this feature.

Ok. I will work around this by changing my desktop resolution instead. Eg. narrowing my 1680*1050 to let's say 960*600. Hence the virtual desktop would take nearly all the space, and I would still have access to the system monitor in case of a crash.

You might want to try the unofficial patch that adds supports for
higher resolutions to the game...

Backup .wine beforehand, in case it breaks things...

There are many which I have installed for testing purposes. I will look at the patch for that one, but so far with Starcraft for example the narrowed desktop works very well.
