No, there are some bugs with it. Why don't you use native Linux version of it?

Isn't there a linux version.

There does not need to be any. And this has nothing to do with any
reason why google earth does not work in wine.

What about your graphics card?
Can I use Wine to access my XP drivers?
No. Wine does not do that.

I think that my question is answered. I can't use the drivers that work in XP for wine to open google earth. Untill VIA makes some drivers for Linux, I will keep XP for google earth.
Thanks for your info.

I am sorry. After checking, I see that this chipset does contain a
gpu as well so you do need an opengl driver for the graphics card part
of the km400

If you are using a Mac, I think there is Google Earth for that too.

In Linux most drivers end up included with the kernel / with the X11
server (probably actually mesa) and gets installed with those. (If you
happen to have a card that requires drivers from the manufacturer's
website, it is probably not included in the kernel because it links
binary code with the kernel, which may, or may not be allowed by the
GPL...) (I do not want to start a flamewar...)

http://packages.ubuntu.com/feisty/x11/x ... -unichrome is
probably what you want...

Google Earth works on Wine but at this point it only renders correctly on Nvidia hardware due to the lack of 'redirected GL rendering' in open source drivers and fglrx. Install the Linux version of Google Earth.
