soundcard registry section

Post by algarues »

Dear All
If anybody has been able to modify the registry and introduced the section "Alsa Driver"
as suggested in
http://wiki.winehq.org/UsefulRegistryKeys
could he please reply to me a copy of his file?
So i can use it as a blueprint for improving my card recognition
Thanks to anybody

What exactly is the problem? What sort of information are you looking for other then that specified on the wiki page?

Please note that most registry entries do not exist by default and have to be created.

the problem is that even though sound work, and it works fine,
in certain games (e.g. halo) there is the option to enable hardware acceleration for sound.
In case this option would work, the performance (especially in terms of fps) would be greatly enhanced.
In my case this option is always dimmed out, that is, my soundcard is not recognized.
I wonder why, and I think (maybe I am wrong) that editing the registry similarly to what suggested in the wiki, and putting some soundcard specific settings, my card would be recognized.
Alsa works perfectly as a sound driver on my linux distro.
It is just that the guidelines for editing the registry for sound are a bit unclear to me, but maybe seeing an example from some one who did it succesfully would help me.

Just to be sure: have you tried to enable hardware acceleration inside winecfg first? It only makes sense hardware acceleration would be off inside apps if Wine plain isn't configured to use it.

Yes, hardware acceleration is enabled in winecfg, and I have enabled it either with or without driver emulation.
I also tried either by using my onboard soundchip (Realtek ALC889a) or my PCI soundcard (terratec aureon 5.1) after disabling the onboard chip by bios.
In both cases sound works perfectly in linux.
Do you think you could try to install halo in your wine and try to see if you get the hardware acceleration enabled in the "audio setup" menu of the game?
