Problem with installation

Post by Doris »

Hi,
I successfully installed a wine programm and even coped to install a version of the Internet Explorer, which was meant as a try.
The reason I tried this in the first place was that I wanted to run translation software on my Mac. Now I found one I wanted to work with and I cannot install the software as the installer did not seem to work. (system information could not be read, fault: 0x0, description: success) The software I am speaking about is called Across.
Anyone who can think of a solution, please tell me.
Thanks!

Yes, exactly. This is the program I meant. I tried it once more and it still did not work.

So, is there really nobody that has ever used this software with Wine? Or does anyone have an idea what else I could try? Thanks!

I notice in your original post you say you installed IE. This is not recommended, and may be what's causing your problem.

Try installing to a clean wineprefix. Rename your original ~/.wine to something else, then run the installer for the app. A new ~/.wine should automatically be created.

Thank you! I followed your advice, but it did not change anything. Still, I can install other applications, e. g. OpenOffice. I do not have many fonts yet, but it works well enough nevertheless. Maybe the software is to complex.
