wotlk eua PROBLEM

Post by ghughes »

1. I am using the latest version of Wine on the G-OS distribution of Debain Linux
2. OK I read the thread on installing WOTLK -so don't ask if I have (please :) )
3. I went the Blizzard downloader rout and installed via the internet because mounting and unmounting and the rest of the steps are confusing lets be honest.
4. It (The Installer) gets to the End User Agreement and I scroll down as per the instructions and the agree button does not activate so I can't go further.
Is my solution to buy Cedega? (I seriously hope not)
Please post the fix to this problem

OK, I've read up, and still can't get past

Post by ghughes »

On the Warcraft message board a suggestion was put forth to update wine to get past the agree, disagree button issue but after doing that I had to revert my install of G-OS to get wine running again because there are corruptions in the update of wine, which screwed up ALL my windows based programs, so I'm back to 1.0 or something and no luck with this EUA issue. Is there something else I can try? ie Can I add html compatability to windows apps so the button can be pressed and I can get on with my life? Or am I doing more work than I have to, is it just a simple tweek? Rather than yell at my machine all day can someone point me to a resolution?

Yes I have a way to get it install

Code: Select all

I have a better way to install Wrath of the Linch King it does require you to change two files thought, get a copy of these files from a windows system or from a IE6sp1 bottle from crossover office or by using ies4linux with regular wine.

mshtml.dll

wininet.dll

Go into the system32 folder rename the ones that are in that folder to something else you may need them again later, now copy in those two files now run winecfg change wininet.dll and mshtml.dll to native, builtin, now run the installer it will show no text but the accept button will now work, get it installed then I would then replace the original files but keep those others from IE6sp1 they might come in handy for something else or if a future patch has this issue and you need to stay with wine 1.0.

Turned off the cpu and cooled off my brain. Turned it back on to try again and I'm back to no text and no button. What is the deal?

Back to blizzard wallpaper and nothing happening

does it matter that I copied the 2 files from an XP machine? Or do they have to come from vista?

Oh and I set the files up like this in wine:

mshtml.dll set to native
wininet.dll set to Builtin

Do they both need to be (native, builtin)? Or do I have it right?

You'll also need shdocvw.

It's not working because you set wininet.dll incorrectly, you should set them both to Native, bulitin I did not mean one set as native and the other built in their is an option of native then fall back to builtin listed as "native, builtin"

It will show you no text in the agreement but it will alow you to click the button

@ Austion that is not required if the files are set correctly then the originaly are swaped back in later, the other option to this is install IE6sp1 into a prefix then install wow into that same prefix, but I use cxgames most of the time as its simpler to setup multiple pre-fixes but this bypass is working on the free cxgames and also wine pre-1.1.8

still not working

Post by ghughes »

Set both files to native then builtin (the only setting I can do other than native or builtin) and the button is back to it's starting position (not pressable) and the text is still visable. I am seriously considering ditching linux now all together and going mac. What is this shdocvw that Austin mentioned?

It's another dll. Copy it from your Windows partition and set the override in winecfg like you did for the other two.
