How to install Wine on Windows?

Post by jim_smitts »

I'm using windows, and I've downloaded the binaries and dlls, so now what? I have a program that I can't run the setup without wine. So how do I install wine?

Basically you don't.

Wine dlls were produced for testing reasons on windows. It not a operational wine environment.

I think that there might be a real reason to do so, now. Wow32, used in 64-bit Windows versions, can't run Win16 apps. Wine can.

Isn't this is a result of a processor limitation. 64 bit mode does not
support 16 bit mode.

If Wine under x86_64 can run it, no....

The support of vm86 seem not to exist... (Should only be a issue for DOS apps)

Figures. Man, I still have the cds for Windows 95 and xp, too. But my only computer has vista. I heard the only way to install both is to do the older one first? Thanks anyway.
