I noticed I don't seem to get notification emails from the forums anymore. I usually subscribe to topics to get emails, but I only see notifications on the website itself.
I don't think I changed anything, is this a known issue or only something on my side?
In the phpBB ACP admin there is a tool that verifies the email configuration is correct. I sent a test email to myself and it worked fine. The board can send emails. I did notice that the phpBB cron was not running after we moved to a new host. I've re-enabled that and perhaps now those emails will get sent out.
At the risk of incurring even more spam... I've now received 213 identical emails that a post of mine was approved by mods. Something is seriously wrong with the email system! Each email has the same <Message-ID>, but from the headers it looks like they are being sent from winehq.org every 5 minutes (e.g. 04:05:08, 04:10:10, 04:15:08).
FWIW I didn't receive a timely notification emails for my first post. I finally received a notification email today (a few weeks late), along with the 212 duplicates. These are still trickling in, so I'm going to have to scrub this email address soon if it doesn't stop!
Sorry about that. There was a permissions with the cron job. It wasn't deleting the queue file after sending, so it would just keep resending on the next run. Made a note in a README about proper setup so the next time we upgrade our VM this doesn't happen again.
No worries at all @jnewman. It was obviously an honest mistake. It was actually kinda funny after a while. I ended up with 528 emails total from the two threads
