I've just found a 'workaround' for a problem I've been having and have seen others report as well.
The tool-tip that appears in CS6 when you hover over the filename of an open tab does not close and persists even when you switch windows within Linux desktop. It doesn't go away until you close the program.
I have heard two solutions for this:
1. Turn off tooltips. Pretty obvious, but what if i actually want tooltips?
2. Turn on virtual desktop in winecfg. This made no difference for me.
What I've noticed is that actually there are two types of tooltips in CS6. The tooltips that inform you about different functions, such as when you hover over the tools are fine. The one that's problematic is a 'window-level' tooltip with a slightly lighter background.
So, my workaround is pretty simple: when a persistent tooltip is getting in the way and won't close, just hover the mouse pointer over the 'X' close icon in the top right of the CS6 window. Now I get a persistent 'close' tootip, but it's far less obtrusive and unlikely to get in the way of anything.
