Installing wine in Rocky Linux 9.4
Installing wine in Rocky Linux 9.4
is this possible? I can't seem to find instructions for this.
Re: Installing wine in Rocky Linux 9.4
WineHQ does not build packages for Rocky Linux. If Rocky provides distro Wine packages, just install them the way you would any other package. You could also try our Fedora packages, but they may not work, as Rocky is based on RHEL, which uses much older libraries. If all that fails, you just have to build Wine yourself.
Re: Installing wine in Rocky Linux 9.4
Understood.
I don't have a problem building Wine myself...if I had step-by-step instructions.
The thing is that building Wine in Rocky may not even be straight forward depending on dependencies and whether they continue to exist or be compatible, etc. and THAT's what I was hoping for here, for someone to point me to some, possibly un-official, instructions to build in Rocky 9.
Interesting you mention that Wine may not build in RHEL-based OS due to their use of older libraries; but, Wine is old too (not the latest of course) in that it is a project that has existed for a long time and I presume at some point it actually built in RHEL.
Oh well, I guess I am out of luck.
