Runtime 430 and Other Errors

Hello Fellow Wine Users,


I am trying to run a Windows program, but whenever it starts, a window pops up with the following error:

Runtime Error '430':
Class does not support automation or does not support expected interface.

The program starts with the menus and icons all in order on the screen, but none of the menus or icons respond when clicked on.

I included the terminal logs at the end of this email.

Is there a reason you're keeping the name of the app a secret?

If you're not using the latest version of Wine (1.1.7), upgrade and retest in a clean wineprefix.

Hello DaVince,Oh, I'm sorry for being so vague...this is my first posting on Wine and am just learning the ropes.
The program is called Exp Elite and can be downloaded from http://files.brothersoft.com/chat_e-mai ... eSetup.exe .  However, this is only the installer, which downloads the complete software afterwards.Thanks again!Elliot

I tried it out, the error code for me is actually 445 but it gives the exact same behaviour and console output.

The best thing to do from here is file this as a bug in Bugzilla, where it is more visible to the Wine devs, and hope it gets fixed soon enough. I can t help from here since I m not a regular user of the application and it s best if you filed it instead. :)

Thanks!I am wondering, did you get the program at least to install?  When I installed it, I remember I needed to make a bunch of changes in libraries and even copy dlls files to my root directory to get it working.  The problem with installation was that I kept on getting an error that an isscript.msi's signature could not be properly verified.
Also, what is the procedure for submitting a bug?Thanks,Elliot

It installed perfectly on my 1.1.7 (with aclean WINEPREFIX).

There's information on the procedure to file a bug on Wine's Bugzilla site itself (bugs.winehq.org)...

Hello Dimesio,
Thanks for pointing that out...it was running as a user, but what meant to say was for some odd reason the wine application was looking to the home directory of the user and not the .wine directory, so I needed to copy dlls file to there (the main home directory)  I never had this problem with other programs, though.Thanks,Elliot

Windows program" is like stating "I cannot flush the toilet" to a
plumber. He is going to ask which toilet and where it is located at.

Like this plumber, we are not nor do we desire to be mind-readers. So
to help you, we need to know:

Which Windows Program? There are literally thousands, if not millions
of them. Trying to figure out which one you have problems with would
take a lifetime. Please help us shorten it to hours.
Is the program you are running downloadable in a full or demo form? If
you are having problems with a program that is available as a demo,
please try it first.
Where did you get it from? If the program is cracked, we are obligated
to limit our assistance for many reasons. Some of the programmers are
working on native Linux versions and we do not want to stop or slow down
these efforts.
Which Linux distribution are you running?
Which version of Wine are you running?
What is the desired action of the program?

Please visit the Applications Database, BEFORE, posting to the Forums.
It has a great deal of information on running programs under Wine and
saves you much time.
