Sharing a home

Is it possible for two very different installations of Wine on different OS on different partitions to share a home directory? One is running wine-staging 5.12, the other isn't installed yet but it's going to be a new version, 7 or 8, probably 7, I forget. Is it possible? Won't the new one "damage" the ~/.wine directory for the old one?
