Root has been deleted

Post by dinosaur »

Hi All

Running Debian 12 and up to date.
My requirement is for one single application: Protel 99 SE.
With all credit to the developers, the installation went seamless, as well as starting Client99SE.

However when I try to open an example database, i get:
Design Explorer Error
Root has been deleted.
Searching around I found this page:
https://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iV ... ingId=3416

Although a few years old, the OP suggested
switch all of these to native: (not sure which ones are needed, but I did the lot and it worked, they are all found in c:\windows\system32 after protel installation):

asycfilt, comcat, compobj, dhk3an32, ds16gt, ds32gt, expsrv, hdk3ct32, mscpxl32, mtxdm, odbc32, odbc32gt, odbcbcp, odbccp32, odbccr32 odbccu32 odbcint, odbctrac, ole2, oleaut32, olecnv32, olepro32, olethk32, rpcltc4, rpcltccm, rpcltcl, rpclts5, rpcltscm, rpcmqcl, rpcmqsvr, rpcns4, rpcrt4, secur32, storage, vbajet32
My initial question is , what causes the Root error.
My secondary question is, what does this mean "switch all of these to native: "

Any suggestion as to how to solve greatly appreciated.
Regards

Edit: Followed installation as per
