Wine d3d apps: Fuzzy (badly distorted) picture

Post by dyzmani9 »

Hey guys.
I have this problem. All of my games look like this, picture is badly distorted (but games clearly work). I have been trying to solve this for the last 10hrs, trying different X resolutions/refresh rates, different games settings, different wine settings/versions, different monitor inputs(vga,dvi,hdmi)/settins, changing direct3d registry settings, whatever came to my mind. Nothing worked, always the same fuzzy picture. Sample here is from Fallout 3:

Image

Weird thing is, when launching the game, picture is distorted like this from the beginning and sometimes it goes OK for like a quarter of a second, showing a fallout 'Please stand by" loading screen, and goes distorted again. Heres a frame showing that:

Output of 'wine fallout3.exe' (from the time i start it to the time i quit it alt+f4, what else can i do) shows this this:

Code: Select all

(...)/Gry/F3$ wine Fallout3.exe

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that might help me.

//Edit
I'm using Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10, onboard graphic card Radeon HD 3300, LCD monitor.

Personally I dont think this is neither games' of my monitor's fault. Probably there's something wrong with wine and/or my graphic card or some settings. What I read ATI chipset graphic cards generally don't work too good with wine.

i am using (or rather trying to use) reloaded's cracked release (i think this is copy of a retail dvd), like i said though I don't think this is particurarly Fallout's fault (thats why i started new topic). Same problem occurs while running f.ex. counter strike source. Although CS:s works Ok in windowed mode (resolution 1440x900) but changing it to full screen (same resolution or different one, dont matter) distorts the picture again. Fallout 3 on the other hand doesnt work neither in full or windowed mode. Hell, maybe it IS my monitors fault, but why then the picture blinks for a second showing properly loading screen? Im so confused right now I dont know what my name is. But hey, good luck trying to properly run this game on your machine, i see you got nice topic of your own about it here ;] Fallout 3-RELOADED, could be a lil bit different from a retail dvd cause i hear they cut out some unnecessary stuf from it (like russian language etc.)

That's your problem. Try upgrading your video drivers.
