VanBasco's Karaoke Player windows does not stay open and autoplay issues

Post by andreagg »

Hi all!
I've been experiencing issues with VanBasco's Karaoke Player. At the bottom of this post info about my setup.

> Info about the program (skip if you know it)
VanBasco's Karaoke Player is a Windows midi player. Its strong point is its interface, which is very versatile: there are 5 windows, each specific for a functionality. You can mute each instrument, change the song's key or speed during playback, and there's a window for karaoke too.

Bugs:

1. Opening the app normally will close all windows
If I start the app from the Applications menu, it will open, and then close immediately all its windows, but not its process. I can still see it in the dock and in the task manager.
To effectively use the app, I have to right-click the icon in the dock and select New Window. The main window shows itself and then I have to manually open each window.

2. Opening files
> The program is open
If I try to open a midi file from nautilus, it loads in the app, but the playback does not start automatically (it should since "AUTOPLAY" is selected in the app).
Plus, if I hover the gnome-shell, for a while the pointer has the "loading" icon.

> The program is closed
It opens without the main window, and if you try to click somewhere else in the app's windows it freezes, then it closes all windows (but not the process), and to open them again, I have to repeat the above process (right-click on the icon in the dock, etc...).

3. Full screen for karaoke
If I double-click the karaoke window, it should turn to a full screen window, but it doesn't. The window simply resizes internally, and I have to resize it manually if I want to see the karaoke's words.

Steps to reproduce:
See attachment.

Logs:
See attachments. I tried the same setup on a virtual machine (VirtualBox) and there are the same bugs.
In "steps to reproduce" it is explained precisely what I clicked while logging.

Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance!

I've also tried to install vanbasco in Fedora 38 (VirtualBox) but only #2 and #3 are riproducibile.
