Hi:
I have two keyboards that I regularly use with Linux, and each has a Windows app available for remapping keys, programming macros, etc. These work fine under Windows of course, but I cannot get either to program or even see the keyboards under Wine on Linux.
The details: the keyboards are a Royal Kludge RK100 and a Durgod Taurus K320 (both excellent products, by the way). With both, I am able to click on the installation executable in Linux and it will install and run the app successfully. When running either app, though, it tells me that there is no keyboard connected - thus the configuration apps cannot read from or write to the keyboard's memory. The mouse, however, works fine in either app. I've come to the conclusion that reading from and writing to the keyboard is a completely different process than simply typing. I've tried both keyboards in both wired and with the 2.4GHz dongle connections, but could see no difference in behavior.
Remapping keys on each computer using hwdb is, of course, a tedious option, but I'd much prefer to load the changes into the keyboards themselves to retain what little sanity I have remaining ... It seems as if I should be looking for some sort of read-write permission for the keyboard device, and perhaps even at the root level, but it's obvious to me I'm lost.
I've tried both apps on several Linux distros (Mint, Manjaro, etc.) and followed many search trails - both here and elsewhere on the web - but can't find out how to solve this. I suspect I simply don't know what questions to ask, so if anyone can point me to something useful, I'd very much appreciate it.
Thanks much.

Re: Use keyboard configuration app in Wine
I expect you will have more success with native Linux programs. Often, such programs use (special) Windows drivers to communicate with the keyboard. These drivers (often) do not work with Wine.

Re: Use keyboard configuration app in Wine
Thanks much. It didn't to me that if I wanted it, someone else may have already done it, though I'm still surprised I never ran across these projects in my searches. I'll play with the Royal Kludge software first as soon as I get a chance, but from what I can see following the link you gave, it looks like exactly what I want.
As for my Durgod models, I was unaware that they were QMK compatible, so that will be the next test. I'll pass on Via, though, since it seems to rely on a web app. If almost everyone but Google (Chrome) and Microsoft (Edge) view WebHID as a security (or at least privacy) risk, it almost certainly is.
Again, thanks much for the speed and usefulness of the response!
