Winamp - Online Services not playing

Post by Rossy »

Hello,

Wine version: wine-8.0.1
Operating System: Linux Mint 21.1
Kernel: Linux 5.15.0-76-generic
Terminal output: in attachment
Winamp version: v5.9.2

I'm a complete noob to Linux. My problem is with Winamp. I need it to play Online Services.

After some struggle, I discovered Wine and that I can install windows apps with it. And I successfully did install Winamp on my Linux.

The only remaining problem is, when I open Online Services it shows stations and I can browse through them, use search option or refresh, but when I click any station it won't start playing.

I tried the older version of Winamp and had the same problem. (not sure which version was it now)

If this is inappropriate post or if you need more information, please let me know.

I discovered that if I click specifically on the play button and drag it into the player (left top corner) it works! I don't need to do that on windows though. But I don't mind that. I'm just happy it works.

This might not help you at all, but just in case, there is a native player on linux that has a mode similar to winamp. The program is called Audacious, and after you install it you can put it into legacy mode or something similar and it is modeled after winamp. I know you can listen to live streams on it, but it might not have exactly what you are looking for.
