More problems with Star Stable Online

I have installed Bodhi Linux next to my Mint Cinnamon and I installed both Port Proton and latest WINE on Bodhi, and running SSO is fine up until I click 'Play' and then the black screen is there for a second before it crashes.

I installed ms-corefonts, tried removing winbind and reinstalling it as someone said but it didn't work.

Now, on my Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon, I tried running it first with Port Proton but it just goes midway through the Installation after you log in for the first time and then crashes I don't even know why, and now that I ran it with WINE, all I get is black before the logo shows up. Corefonts is installed.

It just stays like that forever, I don't even know what to do anymore

Sorry. I also had a black window when installing a program, then I moved the window and got it to view.

I second cpkautz, sometimes battle.net will pop up a dialog underneath other windows, so worth a shot to try moving them around. Sometimes difficult to separate wheat from chaff in log files for me. Google the "err" ones.

This may not apply to your situation, but sometimes I'll run an app(battle.net for me), and it will run *real* slow to come up, but then launch games okay. I mean like several minutes. I would try just leaving it for 10 or 20 minutes just in case. 1% chance but worth trying imho.

I doubt it's about that, though, because earlier I could run it perfectly fine with both, I have no idea where the problems are coming from. And, about the dialog, I know it isn't that because sometimes the logo does show up (or did) and the black stuff would just be there for a second and then turn into the logo. Now, even after hours, it is the same and my computer is doing nothing, no red light flickering like when it's opening the game or something.

When I really get stuck I'll see if I can get it going with lutris and if it works there, either just use it there even though I prefer running wine direct, or it may provide hints to get it working. For battle.net and Diablo II Resurrected I had to give in and use lutris. Sorry if none of this helps!

I see you did mess around with proton, and it didn't work there either. Could wine have to catch up to something? Maybe it's broken for everyone?

In older versions of Wine, there was a bug that prevented the game from launching properly. In version 8 of Wine, the game seems to work fine. Which version of Wine do you use?

I tried with Lutris and no difference. WINE version is 8, I even tried development branch once and it changed nothing.

I am now trying to get some drivers and do something with winetricks and after I reboot I will post an update.
