battle.net not working for ubuntu 22.04

So this might not be your problem, but I believe battle.net is still 32 bit, so you would have to have multiarch enabled and use "wine" to launch, not "wine64" Not sure if it will help, but worth a shot.

That manual is very vague. They use the 64 bit Wine to create a 32 bit prefix?
When I follow the AppDB manual, everything seems to work.

Yep about the vagueness! It was always a bit hit-or-miss for me over the years. They are clinging to 32 bit for maximum compatibility(i guess) for battle.net, but everything else(that is launched via battle.net) is mostly 64 bit or choice. I think I would try one, then the other, and whenever it started working I wouldn't ask questions.
