Version of Wine compatible with my system?

Post by wine_greatful »

Hello all,
I have Linux lite 3.8 installed on a 32bit laptop.
To my knowledge - version 3.8 of Linux Lite - is the last version created compatible with a 32bit machine.
Linux Lite 3.8 is based on Ubuntu 16.04 xenial

Currently - I have wine version 1.6.2 with this OS.

Can anyone tell me if this is the latest version of Wine compatible with my setup?
And if there is a later version of Wine compatible with my setup - where can I find instructions on how to upgrade to it?

Sincere thanks!

The WineHQ repository for xenial has wine-stable packages for 5.0.3 and wine-devel and wine-staging packages up to 5.19, which are much newer than what you have, though still very old (current Wine version is 7.20). You can try those, but note that they are built for Ubuntu, not Linux Lite, and may have problems due to differences between the two.
