installation of fb2editor went through yet a try to run the program ended like 'fbe.exe encounered a serious problem...'
Any suggestions?

I'm not very well versed on Wine myself just yet but I think the community would need a fair bit more to go on before they can be of much help. Maybe a log file for starters?
