Why do people assume the worst? What if Wine's server go down, you'll scream that Wine is dead? (btw this happens rather often) Could be just a network problem, hardware problem or DDoS by say slashdot.

The web site is taken over by some squatter site that redirects you to
other sites.

Alright that looks like a web hosting company. So maybe there is a
problem with the web host or they paid their bill late or something..

Network Solutions is a registrar. It looks more like they haven't renewed their domain name yet, but are still in the 30 day grace period. WHOIS lists it as "pending renewal or deletion."
