WoW + Wine Git

Post by denali »

Howdy,

Recently, I fetched a post-1.1.5 version of Wine off of Git. I run WoW fullscreen in OpenGL. I've made no changes to my WoW configuration.

However, it appears this version of Wine now takes Gnome Panel into consideration when determining the OpenGL viewport size. It places the OpenGL viewport between my top and bottom Gnome Panel. It was neat to begin with, but now I'm coming to the conclusion it's annoying.

Has anyone else had this happen?

System:

AMD 2000+, 2gb RAM, nVidia 6200 w/256mb, Ubuntu 8.04

(Yes, I realize Git versions of Wine are bleeding edge developer versions. I'm not complaining (too much). I'm just curious if this is happening to anyone else. If it's a bug, I'll do regression testing to find it. If it's isolated to my system, then I'm going to go back to 1.1.5 and/or blow out my Wine directory to fix it.)

Thanks,
denali

Well, it seems my issue has to do with the new feature: Support for X11 desktop work area.

Anyone know how to shut off "Support for X11 desktop work area"?

Ok, a temporary solution is to retract the panel into the side of the screen.

Run a regression test.

Sadly, it's not a bug. It's a new feature. Running a regression test will simply identify when they added this new feature. My guess is they will only remove it or add a feature to shut it off if enough people complain.

It's a new feature with 1.1.6. You'll need to downgrade to 1.1.5 or retract your Gnome Panels into the sides of the screen.

If it's a feature or bug is irrelevant. Without the regression test,
there is no way to know which patch caused it, and if there is a
better way to write the code to work around the issue.

Sorry for my language, but do not use either the English language.

I think that in this post speaks of a problem with the new version 1.1.6 of wine and Word of Warcrft.

I've updated my pc the new version 1.1.6 of wine, and I've noticed a big drawback for me, and is now in full screen I get the Gnome panels, and the truth is it makes me very uncomfortable to play with panels there, now do not know if this is true, or is it a mistake for the new version, the truth is that I have come back to the earlier version works fine to me.

I use the Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron updated today.
