No program start icon
I installed World of Wisdom Birth Chart Interpreter 2 on my wife's laptop without any problems. Then her laptop was stolen so I had to reinstall. The re-installation did not put a start-up icon on her desktop, so she has to navigate to “Browse C/ Drive” and click on the .exe icon to run it. She is running Ubuntu 7.10. I tried the same program on my Ubuntu 8.04 with the same results. Is there a way of adding a start-up icon to the desktop? This problem seems to have started when there was an update.

What Wine version? Post the complete terminal output when installing the program.scutiform wrote:I installed World of Wisdom Birth Chart Interpreter 2 on my wife's laptop without any problems. I use Wine v1.0. there is no terminal output. I put the cd into the drive, select the .exe program that installs the program, click open with "wine windows program loader" and follow any instructions on the screen. I have tried several Windows programs and none of them put a program start icon on the desktop. Up until a month or so ago, they ALL installed a desktop icon. There are only a handful of Windows programs that we still use, but navigating down a page full of dll's to find the right exe could get a bit wearing.

Try upgrading to newer version. The latest Wine version is wine-1.1.6 (released today).scutiform wrote:I use Wine v1.0.

The upgrade worked. In the previous version, the installer jumped past the screen for putting a launcher in the right folder. This meant that nothing was added to the programs list. Thanks for the help.
