Hello everybody,
this might be annoying, because it's Easy Anti-Cheat, and it is commonly that it works really bad with Wine, but i thought to ask again.
I tried to install the game "The Cycle" from the Epic Games Store. The Store itself works really fine, it even looks good on linux in my opinion.
Downloading the game was also no Problem. Where it starts, is when i try to launch it. It says "Invalid game executable" for Prospect-Win64-Shipping.exe. I then thought it could be anti cheat, so i searched the game files for some hints.
In the games main folder is the EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe. It's possible to execute, and no obvious flaws. But it says "Easy Anti-Cheat is not installed". So naturally i tried to install it, but when trying it says "Insufficient privileges"
So that is now where i stand. Maybe someone here has another idea where to start.
My specs are
Manjaro with Kernel 5.11, trying 5.12 later again.
Wine 6.8-staging
R9 280X with driver amdgpu
The Cycle (YAGER) with Wine
Re: The Cycle (YAGER) with Wine
Little update on my "progress"
Well, i got it to "run". When installing the game via the Epic Games Store, installed with Lutris and runner lutris-6.1-3-x86_64, the game at least starts. Performance is not as good as on Windows, but playable with similar settings as on native. Launcher window is bugged. Unfortunately the game crashes when, what i assume, the matchmaking is done. So, idleing in the lobby works, but actually playing is not possible, as the game crashes when the player is assigned to a match. I'm still interested in what the differences are, that my native wine install does, and what the lutris version tries to do.
I tried to run the game with proton, but i seem to be to incompetent to get proton to work with any non-steam game.
