I must install MS Office in Wine on Ubuntu Linux. It installs fine,
but the Hebrew is backwards. Googling the problem led me to this
video, which illustrates the problem:

Does anyone know how to fix this? I am on a full UTF-8 Hebrew locale,
if that is relevant. I installed MS Office 2003 in English on Kubuntu
8.04. Thanks in advance.

I will state that Hebrew documents under Wine with e-Sword do display correctly as I have a Hebrew bible that I loaded to make sure this worked.

Isn't there a version of MS Office in Hebrew? Maybe the English version is not able, under Wine, to detect the language change and thus change from Left to Right to Right to Left.I must install MS Office in Wine on Ubuntu Linux. It installs fine,

legally. I could pirate the Hebrew version with no bad conscious, as I
have a legal copy of the English language software that I would then
be not using, but I wanted to avoid that. And purchasing a new copy is
very far out of the question!
though those seem to be Hebrew-Enabled versions. Can Wine be made
Hebrew-enabled? I personally do not know what that would take.

Re; MS Office in Wine: Hebrew backwards
I can confirim this also happens in the Hebrew version of Office (Office XP).
Searching BIDI (Bi Directional) on the Wine WIKI brought up some kind of issue with ICU in configuring and compiling wine from May 2008, but I could find no test for ICU in the configure script (from the latest git tip). Using native riched20.dll and riched32.dll did not improve the situation.
Note that notepad DOES correctly display hebrew, so this is an Office specific behaviour. What logs would help?
