WIne 5.8 - Middle Earth: Shadow of War save game file name changed

Post by NotAnotherWiner »

My saved games for Middle Earth: Shadow of War used to be named 00000000_ShadowOfWar.sav in Wine 5.6. Wine 5.7 didn't work with Middle Earth: Shadow of War. Wine 5.8 works with the game but the old saved game does not work and when I launch the game, it only lets me start a new game. Also the file name it uses is now 00000666_ShadowOfWar.sav. When I search the internet, it seems that "00000666_ShadowOfWar.sav" is supposed to be the file name. I do not get any results for searching for "00000000_ShadowOfWar.sav". I tried renaming my 00000000_ShadowOfWar.sav file as 00000666_ShadowOfWar.sav but the game does not continue the progress; it acts as if there is no saved game. I reloaded Wine 5.6 and using the saved game 00000000_ShadowOfWar.sav still works. I'm not sure if the saved game is corrupt; maybe it is only going to work in Wine 5.6.

I do notice that with my saved game and Wine 5.6 that somehow I lost the ability to play the DLCs "Blade of Galadriel" and "Desolation of Mordor". I plan on using 5.6 until I finish the main game/story. Then I will try Wine 5.8 with the DLCs.
