800x600 app 1/2 on 1/2 off screen

I like to play Panzer General II. I had it running nicely using 0.9.4(?) but since then am having problems with it running 1/2 on and 1/2 off screen (it runs using 800x600 screen size. I could still still run it by manually changing it to 800x600 (I normally run at 1024x768), but since the up date to 1.0 even that no longer corrects the problem. My desktop is KDE 3.5.9, using a linux kernel 2.6.24. I tried virtual desktop which works fine except that it sit on only a 1/4 of my desktop which is too small to see well. I know it must have to do with my graphics setup, but am unsure as to how to fix it.
