I am new to linux, and even newer to Wine. I installed Wine on Ubuntu 8.04 with Synaptic to try and install Kidzui for my kids, which didn't work, because Kidzui requires Flash Player 8.0 and higher. Anyways, I uninstalled KidZui, and then uninstalled Wine. However after the removals, I still had a Wine>Installed Programs>Kid Zui entry showing up in my application menu. So, I went to System>Preferences>Main Menu and deleted this entry, figuring Wine would recreate it when I reinstalled.
Now, I have reinstalled Wine, my Installed Programs entry is no longer present. I have tried going to synaptic and doing a "Mark for complete removal" with no luck, tried installing and then running "apt-get remove --purge wine", then reinstalling with no luck.
Is there anyway to get wine back to a nice clean, proper installation?
Thanks,
Scott
Did I break Wine?

That's grat, thanks so much! Now, here's where I'm at. I now have an entry in Applications Wine>Programs>Kid Zui. However, Kid Zui has long beeen removed, and Wine is also removed. How can I rid myself of this lingering menu, when everything it pertains to is removed, the uninstallation procedure of Kid Zui didn't seem to get rid of it.

Careful those commands will remove all links Wine created (so you better do that before installing anything). Or manually remove the link(s) you don't need.

Thanks again, that's got me all set.
Do you think you have any advice to possibly getting Kidzui to work? It requires Flash Player 8.0 or higher to run. I installed the Kidzui browser, then installed Flash Player via Wine as well, however it still complains that Flash Player is requried.
I seem to recall that when I set it up in Widnows, because I use Firefox exclusively and had never used IE, I had to actually open up IE, install the Flash Player plugin, before I could get it going.
Perhaps I need to actually install a full blown version of IE, then install the flash plugin on it? I tried to install IE6, but it complained that I already had a newer version installed.
