Hi everyone.
I'm a complete novice and have been using this guide: http://www.davidbaumgold.com/tutorials/ ... ports.html to try and run Fallout 3 on my mac.
Everything seems fine up until I try opening the '.exe' file installer with Wine, through Terminal. According to the guide, once you run the installer, XQuartz should open automatically. This doesn't seem to happen with me. Instead, a window pops up called 'Fallout 3 Version 1.7 Update', seemingly through Wine and not XQuartz. It tells me that Fallout is about to be updated to version 1.7, but when I click 'OK', and the update seems to have completed, the window closes and Terminal displays the message 'Can't recognise 'Fallout3.exe' as an internal or external command, or batch script.'
I apologise for my ignorance if I've missed something obvious, but I would be really grateful if anyone has any suggestions for what I might do to fix my problem.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Trouble getting Wine to run Fallout 3
By my understanding of your problem. you need to put the exe into your game file which would be in drive_c/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3..
From Experience i know that you would have been given a file with something like "Fallout3_1.7_English_US.exe" if your trying to run that which i believe you are you need to put the exe file in your fallout 3 file, this is the file that has the FalloutLauncher.exe in it. once you have put your 1.7 update exe in that folder you need to run it though your wine you made with fallout 3 but instead of running it you need to right click your fallout 3 then open the wineskin (Same way you install executable's). in the way that i do things iv already run the setup.exe for fallout 3 which i believe you have done already. once you have opened the application you will see the tab "Advanced" click on that tab and you will se your file directory will most likely be set to something like "/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3/FalloutLauncher.exe" or "/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3/Fallout3.exe" then you need to press the browse button and go though "/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3" until you see the "Fallout3_1.7_English_US.exe" click that and choose it. go though the process you done before and when it has been done it will open your fallout3.exe once that happens exit out of that straight away and re set your open directory (Windows.EXE) back to "/Program Files/Bethesda Softworks/Fallout 3/FalloutLauncher.exe"
Note: the link that you have provided dose not work. it goes to a page not found.
also i know not all of that you will understand I'm not the best with words when I'm typing lol
