Ok, so, really basic question. How do I install wine?

which i don't know what to do with, and then i went to the website that told me to check a wiki that had a bunch of words i don't understand. i'm not like a hacker i'm just a tumblr user who wants to play stardew valley and doesn't understand the icloud so how do i do that

What you downloaded was the source; to install from that, you would first have to build Wine, and that's probably not what you want to do.

ok, i followed the link on that page to a page called Wine Download Server which is offering me a bunch of ways to install wine 1.9.1. according to the front page that is not a stable build. is there a way to download the latest stable build?

That's 1.9.11, not 1.9.1. WineHQ doesn't package the stable release, so if you insist on using it, you'll have to build it yourself. Instructions for doing that are on the same page I linked you to.

You could also try one of the third party versions of Wine mentioned on that page, but as stated there, they are not supported here.

??? is a stable release the kind i wnt if im a dumbass who doesnt know how to fix computers when things go wrong because thats what i am

Then you should use the latest development release, because if you have any problems when using the stable release, the first thing you will be told to do is retest in the latest development release.
