Although I prefer the most current version, 2007 will do the trick for me, and I still have the CD and license number. (Vlookups and pivot tables are awful on LibreOffice.) I see that Wine compatibility is marked as "gold" here.
My problem: I also see one needed to put a "32-bit" prefix somewhere to run the program. How should I do it when trying to install from CD? Should I copy the CD content into an archive and rename something?
Fact is, my install didn't work properly.
Best,
Marcelo.
Microsoft Office 2007?
Re: Microsoft Office 2007?
Brief update. I used the option of repairing the install. Now Excel opened. Yay.
But every time I try to open a file, I get the configuration progress screen. And: the file doesn't get opened.

Reinstall to a clean 32 bit wineprefix. https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#How_do_I_cr ... _system.3F
You didn't mention what Wine version you're using. If it's not the latest development release, upgrade.
