Hi,
I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS 64.
when I install Wine from the software center, odd things happen:
1. I have no access to my Samba Fileserver
2. I can not read files from my second harddrive (NTFS)
3. the desktop doesn't refresh and old dialog boxes clutter the desktop
can anyone help please ?
I'd prefer not to install windows on my second harddrive.
Cheers
Peter
Samba shares and second HDD not working since installation
Re: Samba shares and second HDD not working since installati
Installing Wine shouldn't cause any of that.
The packages in the Ubuntu Software Center aren't the official WineHQ ones. Uninstall the package you got from there, and install ours. https://wiki.winehq.org/Ubuntu

Dear Dimesio,
thanks for the help - and yes that was the issue - installed as you suggested and voila - No Problems anymore.
Thank you very much,
Peter
