install software with several restarts

Hi,

I am new to wine. I am using opensuse 13.2 and I already installed wine.
I tried to install vector NTI 10 on my system. There are instructions around but none deals with the question how wine continues an installation after wineboot. On windows the install dialog simply continues automatically after reboot but this does not happen with wine.
I am not sure if this is an error or I need to do something else, but in the instructions there is no word about it.
Could you help me?

Does the app appear to be installed in the wineprefix? If so, try running it.

I am new to all this. The only thing I can say is, that under .vectorNTI there are the right folders like in my windows version, but some (central) exe files are mission which get most likely installed after normal windows reboot
So what to do now?

You didn't mention what Wine version you're using. If it's not the latest development release, upgrade. If the problem is present in 1.7.53, post terminal output from running the installer.

I am using 1.7.28 but this software is quite old already, and according to some wine installation instructions it worked out with previous version.

maybe one can test it for me to see if something is wrong with the install steps.

Those instructions are 8 years old. I wouldn't expect them to work in current Wine. (FYI, wineprefixcreate has been deprecated for years.)

I downloaded and installed it in a clean 32 bit wineprefix in 1.7.53 without any problem. I just ran the installer and clicked through all the prompts for reboots. Not being familiar with the app, I can't really say whether or not everything was installed properly, but Vector NTI 10.exe (which I guessed was the main executable) did start up and did not have any obvious problems.

I made a new 32 bit prefix and now I could at least finish the installation. But still no Vector NTI.exe but the following error messages during installation
and wine got stuck after the last line (so command line did not finish)

That is not the correct way to start an app from the command line. http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#run_from_terminal

The executable is not located in the wineprefix you are using. Is that intentional?

I tried also with the executable in the wineprefix directory...no difference. Maybe something is wrong with wine in general.

Those messages are normal for wineprefix creation.
