Xnews playong with the dll...

Post by Daniel2929 »

Yes I know it is an old program but i am used to it. I followed the comments to put native dll in the start directory where Xnews is in and tried to changed the dll setting (wincfg). The strange thing is that when I do that for riched32.dll all goes good, when I do it for ole32.dll by example Xnews refuges to start..

If by "comments" you mean in the AppDB, the most recent test report says no native dlls are needed. Try a clean wineprefix.

Thank you for your response. The problem is that the program will start but that the article picture will not display. That is the same result as written earlier (commend version 1.1.6) in the command of. More people do mention the same problem and they resolved it with the advice given. You can also reframe the question in, will a win program with wine in principle work with the ole32.dll and oleaut32.dll from win 7. Again when I try this, Xnews will not start at all.

No, and problems caused by using native dlls are not Wine bugs.

You didn't mention what Wine version you're using. If it's not the latest development release, upgrade. If the problem is still present, post terminal output from a clean wineprefix (no native dlls).
