I have Wine 1.6.1 on Xubuntu 12.04. When I try to install even simple windoz programs (only 2 that I use) I get this error: Unable to detect the URI-scheme of ".wine/dosdevices/c:".

I have uninstalled and reinstalled Wine several times. I don't know where to go from here. The programs work fine in a windoz box.

How exactly are you running the installers? Post terminal output.

I right click on the exe file. Choose open with wine Windows Program Loader.

Don't know why but I'm getting this error. I'm able to navigate the web just fine elsewhere.


Firefox can't find the server at wiki.winehq.org.

I'm not really sure what's going on with the wiki at the moment; I can get to it, but a couple of other people have reported the same problem. Try again later.
