Relatively old game I'm trying to get running on my girlfriends macbook pro. WWW.darkages.com I have been using PlayOnMac to change wine versions and have tried several different ones, mostly with the same results. The problem I am having is that I cannot play the game on windowed mode, even when trying to emulate a virtual desktop. The audio works in this scenario, but all I get is a black screen. I believe the game runs with direct x.
Now, if I change the game settings to full screen it works perfectly, but it forces the game to run in a 640x480 window which is very hard to use. If I use a newer version of wine, (1.7.30 is what I tried. Instead of 1.6.2 or 1.5.3) the game will actually run at the size of the virtual desktop I'm emulating, but performance is lackluster, at best. Get mouse flicker and it stutters a lot.
So pretty much, I can play as intended, in a tiny window if I use an older version. Or I can play at the size I would like(1280x960, which is a native display mode to the game), but with terrible performance.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Re: Darkages.exe
Cant seem to edit my post??
But I'm sorry I did not read the sticky about not supporting PlayOnMac. I did it as a manual install using PlayOnMac, so did not think it would make a difference. I just prefer the interface that PlayOnMac provides to configure the wine environment.
I will attempt to reinstall the game using 'vanilla' wine tonight once I get home and will post the results.

Re: Darkages.exe
Make sure you try with the latest development release, currently 1.7.51. All the versions you've reported trying are old.
