Windows COM objects

Post by JobinD »

I have installed an applications called NewViews.

I have installed the application successfully in Crossover and also in PlayOnMac.

As far I can see so far, the program works fine in both systems.

The problem comes with reporting. The software needs Windows COM objects.
The software uses Excel and Word for reporting. NewViews uses COM objects to direct output to Excel and Word.

On both systems, I have installed DCOM and then the software itself stops working. I cannot access or use the software. If I remove DCOM, it works fine.

Neither Crossover nor PlayOnMac are supported here. This forum is for plain Wine only. If you want help here, retest in the latest development release of plain Wine, but IMO, a better bet would be to ask for help through Crossover's support channels, as support is included in the price of their software.

Since the problem occurs in both software, I feel that the problem comes from Wine itself. I might be wrong.

You could be right. The only way to find out is to test it in the current development release of plain Wine.
