Wine 1.7.44 on ubuntu 14.04

Post by Levan »

Did wine team member that is maintaining ubuntu ppa versions stooped supporting ubuntu 14.04 ? because the latest wine version that I can get from ppa is 1.7.38.

so I will not be getting any future upgrades for wine through PPA?

Ask the package maintainer. Binary packages are built by the distros; WineHQ has nothing to do with it.

I'm not sure about that, but I think, the Ubuntu guys prefer wine-staging now. So you'd have to switch to wine-staging ppa and install wine from there. If you run into issues, you should report them to wine-staging bugtracker. If you want support here or report bugs in wine's bugzilla, you'd have to compile wine on your own.

Well I will give it a try, I want to compile a wine version but I always manage to mess stuff up and end up with a broken x64 version of wine :D

I am in ubuntu too, that's why I got the 32 bit virtualbox image from http://www.osboxes.org/arch-linux/
and I am testing from that ( I have the Enlightenment version, but now they have added KD5).

It gets updated regularly ( in Wine 1.7.44 now).
