What is the difference between cross over and wine?

Post by ToddAndMargo2 »

Hi All,

What exactly is the difference between Cross Over Office and Wine?

My impression has always been that Cross Over was exactly Wine with an expensive wrapper and a tech support call center?

What am I missing?

Crossover's Wine build includes some hacks for their supported apps that are not included in plain Wine.

They're the same people; Codeweavers employs many of the Wine core developers. I assume that, as a business, Codeweavers pays attention to what their paying customers need, including bugs that affect the apps/games they officially support.

You really should be asking these questions on their forum.

Put their trial on Scientific Linux 7.1. Lotus Approach crashes on start up. Poop!
