Hello all.
Just got a mac a few days ago after years of using windows so im a newbie in what Mac is although i used a few times for musical projects and such.
In windows i played Everquest 2 so i want to keep playing but as i have the 13' retina MBP with 128gb i rather should not use the space that uses Bootcamp
So i come to you as i have tried to install Everquest using wineskin with no success so i come to you for help
I know wineskin its not supported here, i come for the regular wine assistance.
Hope you can help me
Im using the late 13' Macbook Pro retina with 128gb I5 and 8gb ram
thank you very much for your help
Everquest 2 how to in Mac
Re: Everquest 2 how to in Mac
well to be honest, wineskin will be easier, whatever i am telling you right now can work for both. first try to find out the system requirements of the app, then set it in winecfg.exe then, fine out which runtime dll files you need. install it with winetricks (when u create a wrapper in wineskin you go to show package contents then there will be a app named wineskin, go to advanced then tools then winetricks) then install whatever you need and you are good to go.
Re: Everquest 2 how to in Mac
I am running EQ2 fine on Wineskin 1.7.39 wrapper on an old 2011 MBP 6750M Radeon (locked in discrete mode) no problem.
Used winetricks within wineskin to install all d3dx9 files. Then click 'Set Screen Options' and set 'Override Settings' Virtual Desktop to appropriate size for the screen you launch in - I have an extra 1920x1080 display, so I run it on that and set the Virtual Desktop window to 1600x900 - this brings up EQ2 in a window so I can do other things in the background or laptop screen if I need to. FPS is decent at 25 to 50 depending on the action, but has yet to be unplayable.
Sometimes it lags down to 15 or so, but never so bad I have to quit.
But I'm a solo F2P player right now, and have not done any raids, so YMMV.
