Re: Everything was totally error free until I did this.

Purge all the wine* packages and reinstall. There's probably something left over from a distro package. Don't worry: it won't affect your WINEPREFIXES.

Re: Exploring Wine's potential solution to the iLok dongle issue

How on Earth are we supposed to know if it's possible? You have to provide details of what the issue is or we cannot start to guess.

What you have tried?

Re: RayStorm, RayCrisis, old PC ports

You could try WINEDEBUG=+loaddll to see which DLL may be causing the issue, and try winetricks to work around it. However, there seems to be a Wine bug here that probably should be reported.

Are the games available for (legal) download?

CnC3 binds to the wrong interface, cannot see the network

I am trying to get network gaming working for Command & Conquer 3 but I've hit a snag. Apparently it binds to the wrong interface and therefore cannot see the rest of the network. udp UNCONN 0 0 0.0.0.0%pan1:8086 0.0.0.0:* users:(("cnc3ep1.dat",pid=80724,fd=115),("wineserver"...

Re: Steam: compiled Wine ❌ – pre-built Wine ✔️

The only differences I can see in the build log to my setup is the kernel version. However, I discovered quite by chance that a WOW64 build --with-mingw --enable-archs=x86_64,i386 does not suffer from this issue. The WOW64 build doesn't touch the i386 chroot so I suspect the issue lay there. Indeed,...

Okay, well, I was pretty certain that I'd replied but I can't have.

This started working. I think it was just to a mess I made in the compilation directories.

Steam: compiled Wine ❌ – pre-built Wine ✔️

I'm looking at the bugs that affect Steam, but I've come across one I cannot get past at all: The pre-built Wine binaries for Ubuntu 22.04 allow Steam to load the log-in screen. ✔️ But when I build Wine myself it doesn't get that far. ❌ I've tried building in Ubuntu Bionic & Focal, Debian Stable...

i386 compilation error on Ubuntu Jammy

I thought it was about time I updated my chroots when compiling Wine so I've moved from Ubuntu Bionic to Ubuntu Jammy. Wine64 compiles without issue, but Wine32 isn't so lucky. /home/test/wine/wine32/tools/makedep: /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6: version `GLIBC_2.34' not found (required by /home/test...
