install "files for complex script and right-to-left lan
Running Interlinear Scripture Analyzer v2.1.3 prompts the user to install XP support "files for complex script and right-to-left languages" via the control panel for proper display of hebrew.
How can such support be installed??
The hebrew fonts have been successfully installed and are functioning correctly. Right-to-left is not working in the ISA2 app.
Tkx.

It can't. It resides in a low-level dlls that can not be replaced with native.murgatroid wrote:How can such support be installed?
Try using the latest development tree. There were number of patches committed on Monday for RTL support.murgatroid wrote:The hebrew fonts have been successfully installed and are functioning correctly. Right-to-left is not working in the ISA2 app.

right to left text (bidirectional) support now working!
v1.2 bidirectional text support now properly renders hebrew right to left
in ISA v2.1.2 (http://www.scripture4all.org/)
Awesome. Thanks!

The above quote is 2 years old and says that text renders properly in a certain software. There's a little problem with it though: it fails to render final vowels for some reason. Even final shin-s have no dots for example and thus you can't tell an "s" from a "sh". This can be missleading for those trying to learn.murgatroid wrote:v1.2 bidirectional text support now properly renders hebrew right to left

"Imagin having t read something lik this".
Also, these "niqqudim" (vowels) aren't exactly in position, all of them are a few pixels off, but this might be a font issue which affects all fonts more or less...
If opening a new threat would be better please let me know, I just don't believe in necrobumping.

Try winetricks tahoma. If that fixes it, it's http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23537. If it doesn't, file a bug.bugged-user wrote: The above quote is 2 years old and says that text renders properly in a certain software. fonts fonts fonts...
Installed wintricks and tahoma. But that doesn't help and was in vain but thanks for the tip.
I tried a lot of fonts before and I did it again now, conclusions:
There are fonts that don't display/have hebrew niqqud/vowels at all.
There are fonts that render the dot on a final shin yet fail to do the same for a final vav.
There are other fonts like Tahoma, Georgia or Arial that do render all the vowels but they fail to insert them under the letters and appear separately under whitespace which makes things illegible. The font is ugly anyway.
The mistery is that Ezra SIL for example, which ought to be a professional font specially built for Hebrew, renders letters beautifully but fails at displaying both the dot on a final shin and any final niqqud or dagesh. Meaning that I actually loose TWO final sounds on occasion: "amartta" rendered as "amart".
I also don't use Windows so I can't file a bug report cause I'm not sure whether the fonts display fine with ISA 2 on a real windows issue. I'm using bleeding edge Wine though.
So if anyone ussing this program found a font that renders niqud/vowels well, let me know. But I can't file a bug report for I don't know whether the issue lies with the font, the program or my linux host.
So question, does Tahoma work for anyone ? murgatroid ? help ?

fonts
As a side note...
xiphos renders letters properly but it seems that in some cases it simply replaces the font with something else, like a Sans font is replaced with some other Sans or some Serif like font with something Serif like but not the actual font. Despite this I can't find any font that would render flawlessly in ISA/Wine. What is Xiphos using ? It would seem that it can't use Ezra either but it knows what to replace it with...

Hurray. Glad for you. Did I say something ?buyfblike wrote:I got my problem solve with help of this thread
thanks to all here
On topic... I'd appreciate some feedback from anyone using hebrew fonts through wine. Or anyone using ISA 2 on windows.
Just to make life easier for anyone trying to help me:
You can quickly look up Leviticus 21:6 for example, the last two words end in vav and shin, neither of which have dots. I'm also mentioning if anyone not accustomed to the software is reading this, that you have to look for the WLC_v fonts cause only this database contains "vowels"/niqqud/dots.
Can someone confirm this is a WINE bug ? Does anyone have it working ?
